The feature [intercepted] was introduced to distinguish explosives from fricatives (Jakobson & Lotz 1949:430).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jakobson and Lotz (1949) introduce the opposition [continuous<\/a>] vs. [intercepted]. Though they do not define [interception], it is used synonymously with the feature [intercepted] and should be understood under the same terms. The feature was quickly abandoned after its introduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
